January’s almost up.. And just like that, that’s another month in the new year passed. The sun seems to have made its way back to normalcy... and it’s finally time to start reading horoscopes and ponder if all those new year resolutions are actually setting you on the path to a ‘new me’.
Curious and almost begging for some inspiration, I asked the OL team for their take on their promises for the year and how they intended on being more sustainable and mindful in their daily life. Here’s a low down on a few #OLSustainableResolutions -
Hansika, our founder had a few thoughts to share - "My New Year’s resolution for this year would have to be thoughtful consumption about food choices & its impact on the environment. I think small choices towards a healthier lifestyle can overall make a larger impact not only on the environment, but also to an individual's health and mental well-being". I think we can all take some inspiration from Hansika. Sustainable eating has been one of the trendiest topics of 2022 and with good reason. Introducing greens and eating natural foods is the single most significant action you can take to help our environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and soil degradation.
Shubhi Rawat, our content & design partner, contributed to the discussion too. She says “My top two considerations when buying new clothes would be longevity and versatility” and of course, we agree! These are the exact values that are the core of what One Less stands for. Thanks Shubhi for reminding us to buy mindfully and keep shopping in our own closets!
Mukul Madhav Foundation, our tree plantation partners further added - Our goal is to improve the environment in our community by working with area businesses, community leaders and our neighbors to create a clean and safe place to live and work. We are committed to a sustainable future and to improving the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the community. We are dedicated to environmental improvements that foster a sustainable future and lead to social and economic improvements in the community we do business. A big round of applause for these very important points. True sustainability comes only from making sure that the holistic wellbeing of communities is safeguarded and businesses think beyond monetary considerations.
Take One Less for instance; we are a proud United Nations Partner that not only uses organic fabrics and toxin free dyes but also implements an inclusive design strategy. Our pieces are gender fluid and long lasting, which make them an investment for your wardrobe.
You can shop our organic & sustainable clothes here. And this is exactly what I wish to implement this year too. My #OLSustainableResolution would be to not get enticed by my favorite sales, to read the labels before I purchase my products, to support handmade, and shop local! What’s yours?
